Wheelers 3-1 Winners Versus Florida
|
In a tight contest between the Anchorage Wheelers and the Florida Flamingos, Marc Jackson was the determining factor. The Anchorage left-hander sparkled in his team's 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Jackson, now 3-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. George Fantobens notched his 4th save in 9 chances.
The Wheelers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Monstar. For the game, Monstar went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Anchorage a 3-0 lead.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Monstar, "one at-bat at a time."
The loss makes Florida 37-23.
