The Death Valley Scorpions had to overcome a fine effort from Detroit pitcher Pythagoras to win, 4-3, in 10 innings at Cari Price Memorial Stadium. Pythagoras went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Death Valley is off to a hot start at 9-3.

The decisive blow was delivered by Lawn Gnomes in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off six-time All-Star Thorne Belfour to win the game for Death Valley. The home crowd went nuts.
