The Vandals grabbed a win, 2-0, at The Island, overcoming a fine effort from Outer Banks pitcher Lanky Schramm. Schramm went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Maurice Bernard got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and no runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Capsaicin Shrub was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Enrique von Caliente, the 26-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. von Caliente contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Vancouver up, 2-0.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said von Caliente.
The loss has the Aviators at 8-4.
