Pitchlord Sizzles in No-Hitter
Sunday, July 31st , 2072
Providence Crabs starter LeSean Maximus Marbondalenny Pitchlord said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move.
"I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Pitchlord recalled.
The left-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career.
The Providence left-hander no-hit the Vancouver Vandals 2-0 at The Pot, finishing with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts, facing only 29 batters.
"I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Pitchlord admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too."
Thus far this season, Pitchlord has tossed 114.1 innings in 19 starts, fanned 120 batters, walked 55 and put up a 5.43 ERA with 5 wins and 11 losses.
