On a Roll: Southworth Hits for Cycle
Monday, August 26th , 2069
Marc Southworth punished the Buffalo Surge today, leading the Crabs to a 11-9 win. In doing so, Southworth hit for the cycle, tagging the Surge for 4 hits in 6 at-bats.
A player hitting a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game is one of the more unusual feats in professional baseball and typically happens only a couple times per season.
"Well, I didn't expect that to happen," the Providence right fielder said after the game. "I got some great pitches and I hit their mistakes."
Southworth also had 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored in the game at The Power House.
Marc Southworth tripled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Colby Koffman in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
Posting a .292 batting average to date, Southworth has 10 home runs and 36 RBIs.
