New Orleans No Match for Martini
Tuesday, August 24th , 2077
The New Orleans Rougarous manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Cancun Toros. The Rougarous were overpowered by Cancun starter Pedro Martini, who hurled his club to victory, 8-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," said.
Over 9 innings, Martini blanked New Orleans on 2 hits with 2 walks and 11 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Martini said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
Martini has made 23 starts, tossed 146 innings, struck out 164 batters and walked 47. His record is 10-8 with a 3.64 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .230 batting average.
